Lily - a much needed break

For years, Lily Loughlin dedicated herself to providing round the clock care for her husband.

Mr Loughlin, an ex-Army Infantryman, had heart problems and had badly injured his back in a helicopter accident during service. He was in constant pain and, as his condition worsened, the strain of caring for him was getting too much.

The Legion took positive action and offered them a place at Bennet House, a Poppy Break Centre.

That precious time away eased the burden for Lily and allowed them to spend time together before Mr Loughlin passed away.

As Lily says: "The staff were brilliant, they looked after us 24 hours a day. The guests were lovely and friendly."
